I Wonder

My doubts are bubbling – yet He watches over me -

He has given me free will

so complex

& awesome

I reach for the Master through the stars -

immense amplitude -

drink His words

touch His ground -

We were sitting across from each other

For Catherine Ednie

We were sitting across from each other

Chatting, laughing, having a good time;

Her hands resting on her flowered skirt.

Silent as silent a meadow can be

She threw some flowers – pretending,

I stretched out my arms and caught the bouquet,

And oh, how she was smiling!

Time to go about business again;

She was gliding away, left foot barely touching the ground

The toes of the right gave the balance.

Her shoulder blade, the rudder under the blouse

Helped to pilot the way.

Be silent and hear flowing waters weep;

In silence floating petals dry their tears.

We can not Change the Cards we are Dealt

She keeps a message

on her computer screen

to be able to get through the day.

It reads:

We can not change the cards we are dealt,

Just how we play the hand.*

Poor thing, she feels so weary.

I emailed back:

“You know what I would do?

I’d quickly do some texting

to Him who did the dealing.

It would read:- ‘May I please

be Thy apprentice since I am learning,

and Thou are all knowing!’

Then I’d press send….”
